Your password vault explained
Learn how Vault Passwords protects your credentials with Zero-Knowledge encryption and a single Master Key.
What is the Master Key?
The Master Key is the only password you need to remember. It works like the key to a physical safe: with it, you open access to all your other passwords, 2FA codes, PINs, and private keys. We never see or store this key — it stays only on your device.
The Safe Analogy
Imagine a steel safe in a bank. The bank stores the safe, but only you have the key. Without the key, not even the bank can open it. Your Master Key is that key.
Zero-Knowledge Security
Zero-Knowledge means all encryption happens on your device before data ever leaves it. When you save a password, it is encrypted in your browser using AES-256. What reaches our servers is an encrypted blob — an unsolvable puzzle for anyone without your Master Key.
How does it work in practice?
“Not even we can see your passwords. It's like a safe where only you have the key, and we only store the locked safe.”
